Born in Beaune‚ (France)‚ Côte d’Or in 1946‚ Jean Claverie did his studies at the Fine Arts School of Lyon (France) then The Decorative Arts School of Geneva (Switzerland). He first began working as an illustrator in advertising‚ then from 1977 specialized in youth illustrations. He has illustrated amongst others: Oscar Wilde‚ Charles Perrault‚ Ludwig Bechstein‚ Michel Tournier‚ Paul Auster… He has created many book covers as well as posters for publicity and institutions. Part of his time is dedicated to teaching at the Fine Arts School of Lyon as well as the Emile Cohl School. He lives near Lyon with his wife and two children.
